Ancient waves and wounds

Dear ocean wave

With your patient force

Please wear down the

Fossilised grief

Set in ancient stone

one atop the other

The beautiful agony

Of this wounded humanity

I carry lodged

In my aching chest

May each wave of my breath

Carve out broad canyons

Through which deep

song lines of sorrow

Can finally flow

Transfigure the tender terrain

Of the heart

Dissolve all dark

and furrowed brows

And allow Life to return
